Divergent + Hunger Games = Seeker

Did you love Divergent? Did you love Hunger Games? Wish that those had a small paranormal twist? Then Seeker is the next book that you should put on your must read list.

From The Back Of The Book-

“The night Quin Kincaid takes her Oath, she will become what she has trained to be her entire life. She will become a Seeker. This is her legacy, and it is an honor.

As a Seeker, Quin will fight beside her two closest companions, Shinobu and John, to protect the weak and the wronged. Together they will stand for light in a shadowy world.

And she’ll be with the boy she loves–who’s also her best friend.

But the night Quin takes her Oath, everything changes.

Being a Seeker is not what she thought. Her family is not what she thought. Even the boy she loves is not who she thought.

And now it’s too late to walk away.”

This was one of those books that sat on my virtual bookcase for quite a while before I read it. And I am so mad at myself for not picking it up sooner. It was AMAZING. I loved every moment of it. The book itself starts in the present, with what is going on right now. And you think that you have a pretty good idea of who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. But then, the book jumps back in the past and you get to see the why behind how the characters are acting. Then your view shifts, and the bad guys become the good guys.

While Quin is the main character and the story follows her closely, she is not my favorite character. I really fell in love with John. His character is so much deeper then most of the characters in the whole young adult genre. During the second part of the book, you get to see his upbringing. His interaction with his mother, you get to see his driving force, and he really becomes a well rounded person (in my mind).

My least favorite character would have been Shinobu. While, I think he was suppose to be a good guy, he really got on my nerves. I like how he developed, I liked all the background information on him. But he himself was someone that just bugged me.

I really liked the idea of the book. A girl being rasied and trained from the time she is young, to grow up to be special. She grew up thinking that a Seeker was something to be idealized. That a seeker was a hero, that they would protect the community and right the wrongs of the world. But then once she took her vows, she learns that this is all wrong. And it is to late to do anything now.

Seeker is a book that needs to get on your must read list.

Do you like books that this kind of book, where the build it is not the truth and the story takes such a drastic turn? Do you enjoy paranormal books? Or books that jump around in time? Let me know.
