While It Lasts is the sequel to Written On Her Heart. Now before you get all worried that I am trying to talk you into two books, you can read them individually. But I would HIGHLY recommend that do read them both. They are that good. The books are about three girls, that grew up in a small town together and are all trying to get out.
Written on Her Heart is the first, it does a great job setting up each of the girls. From the outside it looks like they all have the classic American small town life. Rachel as the mayor’s daughter. Andi the legacy, her family founded the town. And Carma, moved to town when her mother got remarried to the fire chief. All perfect, until it’s not. Written on Her Heart, is Andi’s story. As the book comes to an end, it starts to unravel the not so perfect lives of her two best friends. How could they have all been the closest of friends their entire lives and not know the major troubles of their families?
While It Lasts is Rachel’s story. With her father coming up to an election year, her mothers huge gambling debt, and their family on the verge of losing everything. How is a girl going to survive? She chooses to take matters into her own hands, and get things done. Mostly for the family, but mainly for her own survival.
From the back of the book:
“A loan shark that doesn’t bite?
Rachel Beaumont discovers her mother’s gambling debt has put their family in danger of losing their money and social status. It’s up to Rachel to do anything to maintain the lifestyle she’s accustomed to–including hunting down her mother’s debtor. But the green-eyed, dark-haired, hunk known as Rex Greene matches none of the stereotypes of a loan shark. Her spur-of-the-moment plan to make him fall in love with her is a dangerous roll of the dice.
FBI agent Colton McCabe arrived at Callaway Cove with one motive. Play the part of Rex Greene and gather evidence in the Beaumont racketeering case. He never anticipated the involvement of the subject’s beautiful daughter, Rachel. Not only is she unexpected in every way, but she may just be the one to crack the case. Or his heart.”
This book has you twisting and turning right from the beginning. It is a short read, at under 200 pages. Even at that length, everything that needs to be said was said. Both of these books are very sweet romance stories. Your must read lists needs to have them on it!!
