• LOTW- 5 Minute MakeUp

    photo (36)

I am loving all of the tutorials on all of the LOTW (Look of the Week), but they can be a lot of work and time consuming. Lets be honest, while I LOVE these looks and I do wear them often; any time we are going out with my hubby I crank it up a notch. For my normal, daily stuff I have a five-minute makeup routine. With all the girls, and everyone with more then one will understand, there is just no time to spend 20 minutes on makeup. Wish there was, wish that I had this luxury of quiet me time in the bathroom, and I could take my time with my makeup without any rush. And I would always leave the house in perfection. But alas, that is so not the case. Typically I have at least one daughter needing help with something, one asking me for the millionth time what I am doing and one MIA. If I remember to get mascara on both eyes, it is a success lol. Hopefully, I didn’t ruin your image of me to to much there.  So below is my 5-Minute MakeUp Routine:

    MakeUp Needed-

    • Naked Basics Pallet
    • Black Eyeliner
    • Maybellines Big Eyes Mascara
    • Maybellines BB Cream
    • Bobbi Brown’s Antigua- blush
    • BellaPierre Vanilla Pink Lipgloss

    Super Easy Steps:

    1. Line your upper lash line with your black eyeliner. By lining them first you will get the benefits of lining them, but it will be covered with eyeshadow to tone down the harshness of black eyeliner during the day.
    2. Apply Foxy to entire eyelid; lash line to eyebrow.
    3. Apply Faint on the outer third of your eye.
    4. Apply Naked 2 on your crease and slightly above it.
    5. Apply your Maybelline BB Cream all over your face. Blending with circular motions.
    6. Apply Bobbi Brown’s Antigua blush along your check bones. Again blend with circular motions.
    7. Apply BellaPierre’s Vanilla Pink Lipgloss
    8. And last but not least, curl your eyelashes and apply two coats of mascara.

Super easy, super quick, and totally do-able. Even with three kids needing your attention (even if that is just to find out what they are into). How about you? What is your normal, daily makeup routine?

  • Nude Lips; The Buffs

    photo 1 (37)

Anyone else loving the nude lip look? This is my favorite lip color. I know most people say that they love a great red wine lip color. But for me I like the nude, flesh tone look. Why? Because the light color actually makes your lips look fuller and softer. While a dark color will make them pop more, and make them more noticeable; a light color lip will make them look bigger. Think about it this way, if you were to paint a room all dark colors, it would seem smaller then if you painted it all cream. The light colors allow light to bounce around, while dark color absorb light. Same philosophy works for your makeup.

This being said, I was so excited when Maybelline came out with The Buffs line of lipstick. All the colors in this line are flesh tone. Everything from very very light beige, to a pinky nude color, to darker skin tones. They are all amazing and only being $5.00 a pop making them completely affordable.

To start, I purchased Nude Lust and Truffle Tease. Nude Lust is growing on me. When I first tried it, I was not a huge fan. It is a pinky beige color, no idea what I was thinking since I really am not a an of pink lipstick. It has a slight shimmery metallic finish to it. Actually it is very similar to my natural shade, just shimmery. That being said, it is growing on me and I do like it for a quick splash of color for running errands. Truffle Tease I love. It is a brownish beige, very light color. It looks perfect on my skin tone. I can wear it with just about any other makeup color.

Something to keep in mind, they are cheap lipsticks and you do sometimes get what you pay for (now there are LOTS of amazing drugstore finds out there). They do not last very long, I find myself having to reapply a lot. They do not stand a chance against eating or drinking. Also, they do show any and all flaws on your lips. I have found that I do need to apply a little lip balm before applying this or my lips look horrible. Weighing cost over these small flaws, makes this seem like an easy choice.

I am so excited to keep trying the other shades in this line. And again at only $5 a pop, there is no reason not to try them all. Has anyone else tried these yet? What are your thoughts? Let me know.

  • In Search of Drugstore Cosmetics..

    BABY SKIN

My search continues. I am in search of great drugstore makeup. There is a rumor that it exists. There is a rumor that some of it is just as good as the big, expensive brands. That you can in fact get makeup with just as good of quality for a fraction of the price. I am skeptical, but going to try to prove myself wrong. This week (yes I do realize that it is already Wednesday), I will be testing different cosmetics from all different brands. If you would like me to test out something in particular post a comment and let me know.

Today I tried Maybelline Baby Skin. There have been lots of rave reviews on this product since it came out a few weeks ago. Going as grand as, a complete dupe of POREfessional. Wow, that is quite a claim. Plus whenever I look for it, it is sold out. Leaving a very empty sad space on the shelves. So I figured that my search had to start there.

After finally finding one, I got home and ripped that baby open. It is a clear, gel like substance. A little goes a very long way. A pea-sized amount covered my entire face with a nice even layer. I was very surprised. It really does cover up my pores and fills in little lines (not the smile lines we all wish would go away though). It gives your face a wonderful soft silky feeling. Very similar to the effect of POREfessional. It extended the life of my foundation, and kept it from settling into any lines or pores. Just realize that all it does is cover/fill/blur pores. It does nothing for skin tone, or combating redness, or anything like that.

For the tiny price, this is worth its weight in gold. I am very very pleased with this primer, even if it is not a complete dupe of POREfessional.
